On our quest of enlightenment to reveal the secrets behind the enchanted coffee bean, we discovered the great endeavors of all of the people involved in the process of seed to cup. This new perception allowed us to truly appreciate the complexities of this magical bean and to form a kin with the community of specialty coffee connoisseurs. We could not deliver this coffee to you without our coffee kin, as we are merely one stepping stone on the way to the end result. Our intention is to always lead from the heart, and with the utmost respect for all who have been involved in the process. With immense gratitude to you, from our family to yours.
We take the time and effort to buy high quality coffee beans; we get good green coffee, producers get good money, and you get to drink the best coffee in town. It’s important to us to know where our coffee comes from and the people involved in the process.
Kathryn, the head roaster is originally from Larchmont, New York and has been fortunate to live in four of the seven continents. Throughout her professional life as a school teacher, she has created lessons and graded papers in coffee shops all over the world. While teaching in various cities in the U.S. she spent long hours in coffee shops that offered an array of international varieties of coffees, providing her great exposure to the vast and exciting world of coffee. As an international school teacher, she accepted a position in Chennai and is now settled in South India with her son and husband. Kathryn feels strongly that her purpose in Chennai is to satisfy the well-traveled consumer and those with refined palettes by providing a high-quality coffee experience.
Anek- Co-founder, Operations
Anek, with roots in design, marketing and brand strategy is also a co-founder of 17 Year old Whoa Mama. As a Business head of Whoa Mama, he brings his expertise of brand strategy to Kat & Kin Coffee helping not only in Marketing but also operations. Anek’s love for coffee began when he fell in love with Kathryn almost 15 years ago.
